Commercial District operating board announced

The operating board which will oversee Liverpool’s latest Business Improvement District has been announced.

The Commercial District, which gained BID status at the end of May, has now put an independent board in place that will decide the main priorities of activity for the area.

The board is made up of representatives from a cross-section of businesses in The Commercial District, along with two Liverpool councillors and a representative from Merseyside Police.

David Guest, chairman of Bruntwood, will chair the group. Mike Taylor, deputy chief executive at Liverpool Vision will take the place of vice chair and Nigel Lanceley from Investec Wealth & Investment will be in charge of finance.

The other members will each be responsible for either an area of the district or head of one of the five action groups – Retail and Leisure, Environment and Security, Transport and Access, Marketing and Communications, and Development and Investment.

Councillor Gary Millar and Councillor Malcolm Kennedy from Liverpool City Council, along with Liverpool city centre chief inspector Louise Harrison from Merseyside Police, have also been appointed to represent the public sector.

Paul Rice, chief executive of The Commercial District said: “I’m very pleased with the strength of experience and the impressive variety of people who have been appointed to the board.

“We now have a strong team going forward and I’m looking forward to working with them to continue to make improvements in the commercial district and to deliver our future projects.

“There’s still plenty of opportunity for others to get involved by joining one of our five action groups, which each focus on a separate area for progression.

“We welcome participation from anyone who believes they have the commitment to improve the commercial district, so if you’re interested please do get in touch.”

If you feel that you have something to contribute to any of the groups please contact Paul Rice on 0151 600 2984 or email paul.rice@liverpoolcdp.com for more information.
